Meet Rachel

about me.png

I create unique, handcrafted stained glass pieces to share my love of vibrant colour and iridescence with the world.

Hi, I'm Rachel

and I'm the artist behind Gaia Glassworks

How It Started...

For the past four years, I've been on a journey of artistic exploration with stained glass. Being self-taught has fueled my creativity and allowed me to experiment and develop my own unique style. Nature's beauty and the richness of human experiences are my muses. Like a moth to a flame, I'm drawn to anything bright and colourful. Sparkling glass, vibrant hues, and the mesmerizing way light plays on iridescence - these elements find their way into every piece I create.

As I honed my skills and experimented with my personal style, I started sharing my creations. To my delight, people connected with my art! I decided to start selling my pieces, largely to help fund my ever-growing obsession with stained glass (this is not a cheap art form!), but I quickly realized that seeing my art find new homes is incredibly fulfilling and makes my heart happy. My art has traveled all across Canada and the U.S., and even internationally, including to Scotland, Germany, and Japan.

When I'm not covered in spicy glitter (a.k.a. glass dust and shards), I'm usually studying or working on an assignment. I'm currently a full-time student, graduating with an undergraduate degree in Psychology at the end of this semester.

Outside of my glass room and classrooms, I'm almost always with my dog, Onyx. She's my baby and I absolutely adore her and my cats, Mittens, Cheddar, and Scruffy.

I have lots of hobbies aside from stained glass (Thanks, ADHD!). I'm an avid houseplant collector, which was my primary inspiration when I first started in stained glass.
I absolutely love yard work and getting my hands dirty in my garden. I've dabbled in embroidery, cross-stitch, and macrame, and I'm currently learning to sew.
